Sports Physicals

Sport, School, & Camp Physicals

Treasure Coast Urgent and Family Care knows how important your child’s health and happiness is to you. Our quick and convenient Sports, School and Camp physicals ensure your child’s safety by determining if they are able to meet the physical demands of these activities.

What is a Sports Physical?

  • A sports physical is also known as a preparticipation physical exam or PPE. This type of exam is required in Florida and most states when a child starts a new sport, school or camp. If a PPE is not required, our providers still recommend having one to ensure your child’s health and safety.
  • There are two parts of a PPE, medical history and a physical exam. During your child’s medical history, it is important to be honest when answering questions. It is unlikely that any health conditions will keep your child from playing sports completely, but honesty is vital to your child’s overall health and safety. In the physical exam, one of our providers will be looking for common indicators or any potential health conditions.
  • We also recommend an EKG to rule out any underlying heart conditions.  An EKG is a non-invasive test that shows how fast the heart is beating, the heart’s rhythm, and the timing of the heart’s electrical signals.  Heart conditions in children often go undetected, an EKG takes 5 minutes and can save your child’s life.
