MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

Injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are not always visible. Treasure Coast Urgent Care is equipped to handle non-life threatening injuries sustained in an accident. It is important to seek medical attention within 24 hours of any accident to ensure that there are no unseen injuries that may lead to long-term pain or side effects. Unlike chiropractors, our providers are able to give injections of medications such as anti-inflammatories or steroids to help relieve pain and spasms and give almost immediate relief without the risk of injuring the discs in your spine. We can also provide prescription pain medication if it is indicated.

Whiplash is a non-medical term used to describe a number of neck injuries most commonly associated with motor vehicle accidents during impact.  Our providers may recommend a Xray to determine the extent of the damage.  Treatment in most cases includes applying hot/cold compresses and following up if pain does not subside.

Common Signs Include:

  • Neck pain
  • Stiffness in the neck or shoulders
  • Headaches Dizziness or fatigue
  • Blurred vision or difficulty concentrating
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Pain with moving your head

Back pain is an injury that occurs in your lower or mid back.  Short term back pain is a muscle injury caused by sudden impact.  If the spine or tissue surrounding the spine are injured, then your back pain becomes chronic.  Back pain left untreated can lead to future problems, lowering your quality of life.  Our providers will evaluate your injuries, including Xrays and determine the best treatment. Soft tissue damage includes injuries to the nerves, tendons, ligaments, and muscles, especially in knees, feet and ankles. Soft tissue damage is hard to diagnose because it does not always show up on a Xray. Our providers will not only review your test results, but symptoms and levels of pain as well when diagnosing your injury and choosing the right course of treatment.

SLIP AND FALL INJURIES

The majority of slip and fall injuries result in relatively minor soft tissue injuries. These injuries include sprained tendons, ligaments and muscles, minor contusions and abrasions, superficial cuts, and minor burns. Serious injuries can occur in some cases including head trauma, fractures, deep gashes and severe burns.  Our providers are equipped to handle the majority of injuries involved with slip and fall accidents.
